There is something in the light of the early morning that is wonderful. The difficult part is to get up early enough to take advantage of it.

Surprises, it seems, never come alone. Sometimes they are nice, most often they are not. It so happens that on this particular day, at this particular moment, surprises were nice, which is a rare thing for me.
This flower was near the one shown yesterday. Since this is a macro shot, we are very, very close. We are so close that the plant is certainly difficult to recognize. But the point of going this close is not to see something that we can recognize, quite on contrary; we want to see something different, something unexpected, something we are not used to see.
Macro lenses are wonderful in that they allow the protographer to see the world in a different and, sometimes, unexpected way.

Since we are in night shots, why not another one?
This is only a 14-second exposure. Long exposures are tricky: if don’t expose enough the image will turn out too dark; if you expose too much, it usually turns up a mess. It takes time and patience but often will produce nice images.
Our color for today is a brownish shade (code #9E6715).
This image started as a test to see exactly what a 20,000 ISO image would look like. I can hardly believe that it is now possible to shoot at such high ISO and get usable images. This was shot with the Canon 6D, which produces, in my opinion, amazing images.
After processing, I found that the overall look of the image was interesting. It was either raining or snowing that night, which may account for the strange/mysterious look of the image.
Sadly, since this image was taken, the small trees were cut. I don’t think they were bothering anyone. What a shame. It saddenes me to see how little people care for trees. Everywhere around me I see trees being cut for no reason whatsoever. People don’t seem to realize how important trees are to the life on this planet.

Orchids are beautiful but are also very difficult to keep alive. It looked very nice when I got it and it stayed that way for many weeks, but then, one after the other, the flowers dropped off. I still water it every week but I don’t see any sign that anything will happen anymore. This one was a gift and I was happy with it but I know I will never buy one.
Orchids are the promise of something beautiful, but something that is impossible to keep.

It keeps on running and running without anyone being able to stop it. We all want more of it, but we only have what we are given and nothing more. It is best to use it wisely because once it is gone, it is gone forever, and that is a very, very long time.
I was surprised by this image. This was only supposed to be a test of my macro lens, but it turned out nice. I find particularly interesting the fine line that defines the size of the depth of field, which is indeed very small.
